Phillips Carbon to set up $50 mln plant in Vietnam (13/03/2010)
Phillips Carbon Black Ltd said Thursday it plans to invest $50 million to set up a 50,000 metric ton per annum plant in Vietnam, in a joint venture with three Vietnamese state-run firms. Vietnamese farmers are attempting to export ca noc, or puffer fish, a poisonous fish found in Vietnam’s Mekong Delta. Vietnam Fisheries Association is moving ahead with plans to turn puffer fish, which due to its poison, is often called the “death fish”, into a valuable export item. The association believes export of the fish can bring in 10 million dollars a year.
