A forum will be organized on December 10 in northern Yen Bai Province to call for more investment into the northwestern region of Vietnam, according to a Ministry of Planning and Investment's press briefing in Hanoi on Monday.
The forum aims at attracting more investment to Yen Bai, Lao Cai, Lai Chau, Dien Bien, Son La, Hoa Binh, Phu Tho, Ha Giang, Tuyen Quang, Bac Kan, Lang Son and Cao Bang provinces.
Around 600 domestic and foreign delegates are expected to attend the event which will report on the region’s economic and investment potential and key projects that will promote socioeconomic development of the region.
Investors and businesspeople will have the chance to talk with provincial leaders about the investment environment, and other related issues.
The 2008 forum, the first of its kind, awarded the investment licenses to 23 projects worth around US$3 billion in the fields of agriculture, forestry, mineral processing, and hydropower.
